John Davison Rockefeller

John D. Rockefeller is best known as the president of the Standard Oil Company and one of the world's richest men. His generous donation in the early 1890s funded the reincarnation of the University of Chicago. He would go on to make various other donations to the university until his death in 1937. Rockefeller Chapel was named in honor of his legacy.
