Samuel ChamberlainAmerican, 1895-1975

Samuel Chamberlain was an American soldier in World War I who became entranced with European architecture during the war. Afterwards, he stayed in Europe to sketch, and took much of his inspiration from the architectural styles of France, Spain, and Italy. He often returned to America to teach and sketch as well, particularly to Chicago. Today, he is well known for his lithographs and dry point etchings. - HG 8/30/17
