Not on viewA pioneer of conceptual photography, Kenneth Josephson was dedicated to educating the next generation of photographers. He taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for three decades (1967-1997) and co-founded the Society for Photographic Education.
Known for works of an image within an image, Josephson draws attention to the constructed nature of all photographs, thereby debunking the myth of spontaneity and transparency that is often associated with photography. Here, the central act of photography—framing the image—is the subject. With a wry sense of humor, Josephson reveals the hand of the artist while focusing attention on the photographic process itself.
