Villagers from a hamlet near Nathrang, central Vietnam, swam for their lives toward a rescue boat as new floods hit the area. Some of the villagers towed their belongings. The new floods caused some 500 deaths and left thousands homeless in Ninh Thuan and Phu Yen, December 1964
