Not on viewLipton was an American abstract expressionist sculptor and a member of the New York School. Though he initially trained as a dentist, he began focusing on sculpture in 1932. He is best known for his works in metal, such as this one, and made several technical innovations in creating rust resistant processes.
Lipton’s work often deals with themes of nature and struggle, both reflected in Carnivorous Flower. This sculpture calls into question the tension between elements that define beauty; here they are equal parts alluring and treacherous.
