Not on viewIn his paintings and watercolors, Lyonel Feininger employed Expressionistic coloration with an underlying network of modulated, intersecting planes and lines characteristic of Cubism. Although painted nearly twenty years after leaving Germany for his native America, this subtly worked sheet is representative of the geometric abstractions of the Bauhaus designs Feininger had perfected while teaching at this acclaimed experimental German school for arts and design in the 1920s.
