Not on viewBuhot has been described as "one of the best known, respected, and collected printmakers of his time." His etchings were more experimental than those of his forerunners in the Etching Revival: he favored combinations of complex tonal techniques rather than the pure etched line of Félix Bracquemond, Maxime Lalanne, and Charles Jacque. The variety of lush results he achieved appear in many of his prints. Thatched Cottages evokes the thatched-roof farmhouses typical of Buhot’s native Normandy.
