Holly Cahill
Holly Cahill’s exploration of materials and process engages with ideas connected to choreography, landscape, architecture, and phenomena that occur beyond three-dimensional space. She is fascinated by the ideal of a portal, both in architecture and science fiction, as a passageway for the body from one space to another. The marrying of this concept of a portal – which can bend the rules of time and space – with the mundane door creates a space to consider things beyond our comprehension in relation to what is before our eyes. Through her artistic process, many multiples are produced, which together create an archive of imagery to tear apart and reassemble. This process-oriented methodology that resembles solving a puzzle; without any premeditation, Cahill eventually arrives at a form.
