Ben LaroseCanadian, Québécois, born 1983

Ben Larose works within the realm of found objects, sculpture, installation, and fiber. Hailing from an impressive background in fashion design, many of LaRose’s sculptures and installations address the body and sexuality. This is demonstrated in Coquille #1’s sensual, curved forms; the mollusk’s softness consolidated in bold color. Not initially accustomed to printmaking, LaRose developed fresh and unique prints through working with a master printmaker at Spudnik Press Cooperative. This work was supported by the Chicago Artists Coalition’s New Printmaker Collection, where former residence of its BOLT or HATCH art residency programs were invited to find inventive ways to capture the essential elements of their art practice through the print.
