Not on viewIn 1906, the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha moved to Chicago to teach drawing and composition at the School of the Art Institute. He is best known for his advertising illustrations and elaborate poster designs, which often depict beautiful women. This poster, advertising JOB cigarette papers, features Mucha’s trademark female subject surrounded by whiplash curves. Her abundant hair and the rich smoke become entwined, almost obscuring the name of the product.
