Raymond Toloczko
American, 1925–1972
BiographyInspired by the mythical winged horse Pegasus, Raymond Toloczko abstracted the creature, whose bulging torso and long legs resemble but do not replicate the body of a horse. Toloczko used small lines and patterns to articulate the hairs and feathers of the horse’s wings, complicating the deceptively simple composition.
